Yikes, one more week!

A old student from Japan asked me to get her those mittens from the Olympics.  So, I checked out Zeller's to find none.  And none at the Bay.  I did find some かわいいソックス though.  So, I got her some of those.  Again, well, I did not intend to, but I had a good time かいもの!What the heck, so I still have to write sub plans, but I could not help myself:  socks, headbands, hat, bag.  I do need those for the trip!

Last Japan Trip Meeting

I've been preparing madly for our trip to Japan because I want everyone to be organized, excited, and know what they are going to be doing.  So, the last meeting is over and now, only time will tell if the preparationgs that I put them through have been enough.

I see various levels of effort and I must applaud those students who really tried their best on every assignment we did.  Yay for people who like to go for it and not just sit back like a couch potato and watch others do the work.  Love it.

The train is a challenge in Tokyo.  Believe you me, those kiddies who said they did not want to do the train assignment will suffer.  And, I will get chuckles when they actually get lost and say, yeah, should have gone through the train routes more carefully, right?!?  Mistakes have to be made in order to learn.

Now, I am just waiting to hear back from the school in Osaka. http://www.momoyamagakuin-h.ed.jp/ryugaku/HTMLs/overview-e.html   Homestays, times and such.

Saying You're not Allowed to...

So, I taught this as part of the school life unit that we are working on. I think it was quite difficult for students to grasp at first, but with two days of work, students seem better able to make the te form. I think also, that I need to have students do more writing practice with saying what they did so they are more knowledgable about verbs in general.

We started the blog writing on 金曜日, and as usual, there were a lot of questions as to how to sign on, change over to Japanese and so on. My hope is that by writing on the computer as opposed to paper, the number of words and t-units that students write will increase. I just hope they don't forget how to write their hiragana. One student commented that blogs were useless but I have to disagree. I think they just have not seen some really good blogs! I have listed some below:

P.S. このおりがみが かいたいです!
